Feb 25, 2025

The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is proud to announce that two of its esteemed members and dedicated activists, Ghada Ibrahim and Nermine Barbouch, have been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. This prestigious honor recognizes their outstanding contributions to the community and society at large.
Their achievements were celebrated on February 25, 2025, in Montreal, where they were recognized for their dedication and impactful work. We are honored to have these remarkable women as part of our team, and we celebrate their well-deserved recognition.
Their contributions within the ranks and to the Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) mission and vision for human rights, to stand up against all sorts of Islamophobia, hate and discrimination, and to the promotion of positive integration, all have brought them the very well reserved recognition and appreciation.

Honored to Receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal
I am deeply honored to have received the King Charles III Coronation Medal, a prestigious recognition marking this historic occasion. This medal is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada—whether at a national, provincial, territorial, regional, or community level—or to those whose outstanding achievements abroad bring credit to the country. It represents dedication, commitment, and service to both the community and society at large.
With over 24 years of activism in my Montreal community, I have dedicated myself—particularly through my long-standing involvement with the Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF)—to the fight against Islamophobia and discrimination while advocating for human rights, equality, social justice, women’s rights, and community engagement. This work has been both a responsibility and a passion, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change.
I would like to sincerely thank the Canadian Muslim Forum/Forum Musulman Canadien for nominating me and for providing me with the platform to serve my community. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the CMF president, Mr Samer Majzoub , and board memebrs, Mohammed-Nur Alsaieq , Mohamad Jundi , as well as to my summer students, active members, and volunteers, whose dedication and efforts continue to inspire me.
Most importantly, I am deeply grateful to my family, Moncef Barbouch Nahla Abdel Khalik Darwich and my 3 siblings, who are my first source of inspiration, and to my wonderful and amazing daughter, Sarah, who is the light of my life and the hope I carry in my heart. I also want to acknowledge the incredible women who inspire me every day.
A special congratulations to my dear friends and sisters, Dr. Ghada Ibrahim and Humera Khan , with whom I have had the privilege of working to support vulnerable women and families at the Amal Center for Women.
Today, I continue this mission by supporting women and families at Sakeenah , a Muslim shelter dedicated to providing safety and hope for women and children, as well throught the work to fight poverty/Food insecurity with the Syrian Canadian Foundation .
Receiving this medal is a profound privilege, and I am truly grateful for this recognition. It serves as a powerful reminder of the values of duty and service that the Coronation represents. I will wear it with pride, motivated to continue striving for positive change.
Last but not the least, many thanks to Emmanuella Lambropoulos for an inspiring night, ceremony and recognitions.
Walk in peace,
Nermine Barbouch

وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّـهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

And my ability to do things comes from none but Allah. In Him alone I have placed my trust, and to Him alone I turn in humbleness
Humbled and Honored to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medel on 25 February.
From Egypt to Montreal, helping others and finding a mission to advocate for has always been my passion.
Since immigrating to Canada, I have found my purpose in advocating for human rights and social justice. Through Amal Women’s Center, as a marginalized woman myself, I discovered my path in empowering other marginalized women—helping them find their voices and navigate their futures. Whether it’s raising awareness about mental health and well-being, fighting against domestic violence, or supporting refugees and new immigrants, this journey has been deeply meaningful.
At the same time, CMF (Canadian Muslim Forums Canadian Muslim Forum/Forum Musulman Canadien given me the opportunity to stand against discrimination, particularly Islamophobia, alongside incredible advocates. I am especially honored to have received the King Charles III Medal on the same day as my dear sister Nermine Barbouch .
Also , I’m thrilled to celebrate another sister, Humera Khan , on receiving this honor as well.
I am immensely grateful to my Amal Center family for their unwavering support, and I am deeply honored to be part of the CMF family. A heartfelt thank you to CMF President, Brother Samer Majzoub , for his trust in me and for the nomination, along with the CMF board members for their support.
None of this would have been possible without the love and encouragement of my beloved husband and wonderful son. I am truly thankful to my community, who have believed in me and stood by my side.
At last heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Emmanuella Lambropoulos for her trust, support, and for such a wonderful and memorable ceremony.
This medal is not just a personal achievement—it is a recognition of the collective efforts of all those working toward justice, equity, and empowerment.
