The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) welcomes the motion presented by MNA Monsef Derraji, of the Quebec Liberal Party(PLQ) deputy of the Nelligen district on the 2nd of February. Mr. Derraji sought the approval of the Quebec National Assembly represented by the Premier of Quebec and the leaders of all opposition parties, to agree on the need to honor the victims of the massacre of the Quebec City Mosque.
The motion categorically condemns all inflammatory speeches, hatred, racism, and discrimination against the Muslim community in Quebec, as well as any manifestations of Islamophobia.
Moreover, the motion called on the Quebec government to redouble initiatives to control such phenomena. In this regard, the FMC-CMF extends its special thanks to Representative Monsef Derraji for presenting the motion and its success in obtaining the consensus of the National Assembly.
FMC-CMF considers that the approval of the motion is a step in the right and positive direction, as its marked by the approval of all members of the National Council of Quebec; Coalition Avenir Québec, CAQ, The Quebec Liberal Party QLP , Parti Québécois, PQ, and Québec solidaire, QS.
In the same context, FMC-CMF calls and urges the parties represented within the National Assembly of Quebec to form a parliamentary committee that works to study and implement the recommendations of the aforementioned motion, which was approved unanimously.
The FMC-CMF draws attention to the absence of the mention motion from any media coverage and the fact that it’s not published even on the main pages of the parties that adopted the memorandum.
In this perspective, FMC-CMF calls for the dissemination of the motion on the widest scale, as it carries in its content the spirit of the real human values of Quebec, and the rejections of all kinds of grudges, hatred and discrimination.

Motion
Madame la Présidente,
Je sollicite le consentement de cette Assemblée, afin de présenter la motion suivante, conjointement avec le premier ministre du Québec, le chef du 2e groupe d’opposition, le chef du 3e groupe d’opposition et la députée de Vaudreuil :
« Que l’Assemblée nationale honore la mémoire des Québécois Ibrahima Barry, Mamadou Tanou Barry, Khaled Belkacemi, Abdelkerim Hassane, Azzedine Soufiane et Aboubaker Thabti, qui ont perdu la vie le 29 janvier 2017 à la Grande mosquée de Québec;
Qu’elle offre ses plus sincères condoléances aux familles et aux proches de ces personnes disparues;
Qu’elle exprime sa solidarité envers ces femmes et ces hommes marqués à jamais par ce tragique événement, ainsi qu’à toute la communauté musulmane du Québec;
Qu’elle se remémore le fardeau porté aussi par les premiers répondants et qu’elle garde en mémoire Andréanne Leblanc, victime collatérale de cette tragédie;
Qu’elle condamne sans aucune nuance tous les discours et les gestes de haine, de racisme et de discrimination envers la communauté musulmane ainsi que toute manifestation de xénophobie et d’islamophobie;
Qu’elle invite le gouvernement du Québec à multiplier les initiatives afin de mettre ces phénomènes en échec;
Qu’enfin, l’Assemblée nationale se recueille afin d’honorer la mémoire des personnes disparues ».
