Montreal, September 23, 2025 – Night release
In light of the rise in inflammatory rhetoric and the re-emergence of voices seeking to sow division in Quebec and across Canada, the Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) expresses its profound concern over the escalation of Islamophobic and hateful campaigns, accompanied by deliberate provocations designed to inflame tensions and fracture the social fabric, whether in Quebec and a across the country.
We are deeply troubled by repeated attempts to distort and target the Muslim community through certain media platforms, social networks, as well as statements and policies that lack fairness and justice. This includes recent calls for activities that carry dangerous Islamophobic undertones.
In response, the CMF issues this exceptional appeal to all members of the community in Quebec and Canada. We urge the community to refrain from engaging in provocations that risk undermining the society, and instead remain committed to the community’s authentic values that call for peace, and wisdom. We stress the importance of confronting hatred and extremism with cohesion and openness, using legal means, outreach, and peaceful channels, while documenting and reporting any hate-motivated violations or attacks to the relevant authorities.
Above all, we call on the community to continue engaging positively in public life and reaffirming its role as a constructive and contributing part of Quebec and Canadian society.
We also stress the responsibility of political class and security authorities to ensure the protection of all citizens from discrimination, racism, violence, and targeted attacks. At the same time, we call on media outlets to exercise responsibility and not give in to hate speech or the perpetuation of harmful stereotypes.
The Canadian Muslim Forum reiterates its ongoing communication with stakeholders, emphasizing the urgency of addressing this alarming situation without delay or hesitation.
The CMF firmly believes that the strength of Quebec and Canada lies in their diversity and in the respect of freedoms. We will continue to work, hand in hand with all partners, for a society guided by mutual respect, equality, and justice for all citizens.
