Press Release

Montreal, August 22, 2025

The Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) is profoundly troubled by the United Nations’ confirmation that famine is now a reality in Gaza. After 22 months of relentless war, more than half a million people face catastrophic conditions of starvation, destitution, and death.

What has been tragically evident for far too long is now irrefutable: Gaza is in famine. This human-made disaster demands more than words of sympathy or concern  it requires urgent, coordinated action.

As Canadians, our shared values of human dignity, justice, and compassion compel us to act. Silence in the face of famine is not an option.

The FMC-CMF calls on all Canadians  political leaders, civil society, and citizens  to stand together with one voice. Our collective duty is to move beyond words and take meaningful action to confront this tragedy and ensure immediate humanitarian relief.

“This is not only a humanitarian crisis,” the FMC-CMF stated, “it is a moral test. As Canadians and as human beings, we cannot look away while famine destroys lives. Our values demand that we act.”
